These are working notes on large open gear drives, the kind found on rotary kilns, cement mills and ore mills. Nothing here is meant as a textbook. It is a collection of things picked up in the field: what to look at, what tends to go wrong, and a few small tools that make the everyday checks quicker. The collection grows over time as notes and topics are added.
